I have been described as many things throughout my life, but there has been one word always repeated.
Creative.
Whether it was covering every inch of the house in paints, pencils, leftover fabrics, and everything and anything I found in hard rubbish. Or filling the walls of my high school room with as many little drawings and pictures as possible.
However, the annoyed teachers ringing home, expressing I’d drawn all over the assignment page again, or the corners of my exams, fearing I was ‘distracted’ is a very core memory of mine.
But I wasn’t fazed, in fact, I did it year after year, following my mum’s advice. ‘You’re just creative’.
Such an enabler.
However, it all seemed to have worked out, as I’m now in my second year of Advertising at RMIT aiming to become an art director. I've aided creative shoots, presented a work recently in a gallery and worked on campaigns for Hairhouse, Good Citizens Eyewear and Barry’s Drink. Because I’m not distracted, and like my mum would repeat back to teachers. ‘She’s never been more focused.'
